GM’s redesign of the 2014 model retains the front Coilover Control Arm suspension configuration from the 2007-13 platform but in two new versions, a forged aluminum version and a steel version.
GM is indicating that certain vehicles will come with an aluminum suspension system that contain forged aluminum steering knuckles and aluminum upper and lower control arms. This suspension is targeted to 4WD Crew Cab’s with 5’8″ beds and 4WD Regular Cabs with 6’6″ beds.
Steel suspension vehicles will have cast steel steering knuckles with forged steel upper and lower control arms. GM is indicating that all trucks other than 4WD Crew Cab’s with 5’8″ beds and 4WD Regular Cab’s with 6’6″ beds will have a steel front component suspension.
Fabtech will be offering its 2″, 4″ and 6″ Suspensions for both the aluminum and steel suspensions for the 2014 model. Please verify before installation if the vehicle has a factory aluminum or steel front suspension and install the specific Fabtech system for that vehicle.
